We are pleased to introduce the host of the Hungarian Wine Summit, Gergely Somogyi. As an expert with a deep knowledge of the Hungarian wine regions, he often guides guests from distant countries through the Hungarian wine regions. Therefore, we thought it would be ideal to choose him to welcome and accompany the guests during the Summit’s programmes. Here is his introduction.

Gergely Somogyi is a ‘Tokaj all-rounder’, based in the wine region and involved in various Tokaj-related projects since 2012. Apart from working as a contract wine steward for multiple regional wineries, he runs Tokaj Today, an independent news and information website about Tokaj, as well as organising and hosting small-group private wine tours (including press and trade) to the region. He regularly works as a regional expert, guide and translator for wine professionals coming to Tokaj to write wine and travel articles for international media, and he is also admin officer for both national and regional winemakers’ associations. He gives masterclasses, lectures and talks on Tokaj and Hungarian wine-related topics in Hungary and abroad.
