Uncover the vibrant diversity of iconic Hungarian red wines in our masterclass on single varietal wines from Hungary’s most widely planted black grape, Kékfrankos, and the renowned Kékfrankos-based blend, Bikavér. Kékfrankos, celebrated for its peppery spice and juicy fruit notes, will show some of its many faces originating from different wine regions. Bikavér, the iconic “Bull’s Blood” blend from the cool climate of Eger and from the gentle hills of Szekszárd, will delight you with a symphony of flavours and impress you with its quality thanks to strict winemaking regulations and dedicated producers.

Csilla Sebestyen comes from a highly regarded Hungarian winemaking family based in the south of Hungary. Her role in the family business is to create the style of the wines and to represent them. She worked as a sommelier for 6 years at Restaurant Andrew Fairlie 2 Michelin star, based at Gleneagles Hotel. During this time, she qualified at WSET Diploma level and also the unique ‘Fine and Rare Wine Specialist Course’. She is also an active member of their regional marketing team.

Tibor Gál is the second generation owner and chief winemaker of the Gal Tibor Winery in Eger wine region. Mr. Gál graduated from the Hungarian Agricultural University as a winemaker, and he also spent one semester at the South African Stellenbosch University’s faculty of winemaking. Before starting his career in the family winery he worked for shorter stints in Tuscany, New-Zealand and South Africa. His aim is to revitalize local traditions and to craft a contemporary Bikavér based on local varieties that with time may gain worldwide recognition.
